Process for requesting masks for classrooms and other areas

blue mask covid

In response to WVU’s expanded mask guidelines requiring all individuals — regardless of vaccination status — to wear a mask indoors in all WVU buildings and facilities through Oct. 6, the Facilities and Services team has received several inquiries from students, faculty and staff regarding the process for ordering masks for classrooms.

As with last year, the Facilities team will continue to maintain an inventory of masks in each classroom and check twice daily to ensure there is an ample supply. We also are placing mask dispensers in high-traffic areas in buildings across campus.

If a classroom’s supply of masks is depleted at any point throughout the day, instructors should contact their building supervisor to request additional masks. If a building’s mask dispensers are empty, students, faculty and staff can call 304-293-4357 to request a refill.

Similar to the procurement of other personal protective equipment (PPE), each college also can request an additional supply of masks for classrooms through the PPE Request Form in Mountaineer Marketplace

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to wear their own reusable masks whenever possible. After all, it is more cost-effective for the University and helps decrease the negative environmental impact caused by disposable masks.

However, if students or employees forget their reusable masks while indoors on campus, they are asked to use one of the available disposable masks. Note: If a disposable mask is not damp or wet, it can be worn throughout the day (not just for a single class).

As a reminder, in addition to the mask requirement in all indoor campus buildings and facilities, masks continue to be required on the PRT and WVU buses through Jan. 18, 2022, under federal guidelines from the Transportation Security Administration.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our campus safe by following WVU’s mask requirement and the University’s other safety protocols.
