West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner, along with the Morgantown Chamber of Commerce, hosted a reception Tuesday for Monongalia County businesses that qualify to become members of the West Virginia Centurion Chamber of Commerce.
West Virginia University and The Daily Athenaeum were among the Monongalia County entities honored for being in business for 100 years or more.
"These businesses have withstood generations, challenging economic times, and ever-changing technology," Warner said. "They include banks, newspapers, hospitals, family-owned businesses and more. These Centurions are anchors and leaders in our communities."
