Two students employed by the Division of Student Life to create programs that advance the University’s mission, develop and build community on campus and help campus offices operate more efficiently, have been recognized for their leadership and service through the Herman L. Moses Scholarship.
This year’s recipients are Mononita Khan and Steven Navarro.
“Mononkita and Steven make a difference in Student Life each day, and we are pleased to recognize their contributions with the Herman L. Moses Scholarship,” said Corey Farris, WVU Dean of Students. “In their roles, they help other students achieve successes and provide a student perspective on the programs and services offered across the division.”
Khan, a junior international studies major minoring in anthropology from Ranson, serves as the student assistant in the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
“It's an honor to receive such an award that reflects my work ethic and hard work,” Khan said. “This scholarship helps me tremendously financially and also helps further my education at WVU."
Navarro, a junior cybersecurity major minoring in criminology from Martinsburg, serves as a resident assistant in Stalnaker Hall.
"All the effort and time I put into creating a community with my residents is getting noticed with this award and I feel proud to be a part of something special,” Navarro said.
The annual scholarship was established by the family of the late Dr. Carl R. Adkins in honor of long-time student life administrator Herman Moses who devoted 36 years of his professional life to working with WVU students and their families before retiring in 2003.
