Let’s Talk addresses consent

Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Meshea L. Poore continues her weekly series of short videos, exploring topics centered on helping members of the WVU community live, learn and work together with care and respect for each other.

This week’s video, released Feb 9, addresses consent.

“Most of the time when we talk about consent, we are talking about consent for physical intimacy with another person,” Poore said. “Intimate touch could range from a person putting their arm around you, touching your hair, holding your hand, kissing you or having sexual intercourse. Without consent – none of that is OK. Without consent, that can be rape or assault.”

The Let’s Talk series, with a new video each Tuesday, will address a diversity of topics, including xenophobia, free speech / counter speech, cultural appropriation and the land-grant mission.
