Employees will notice many improvements and some important functionality fixes to the Applaud system after our normal maintenance period for MAP and Applaud 12:01 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31. Wall clocks will remain operational during this time for employees who need to record hours.

The Applaud updates will:

  • Eliminate a missed-punch error for evening shift workers who clock out precisely at 12:00 a.m. The system had been showing midnight punches as the start of a new day; now your evening shift will end correctly.

  • Designees will be able to see employee calendars for the entire team and full information for those with multiple assignments. This information is visible only when fulfilling the Designee function for another WVU employee.

  • If you mistakenly submit a leave request for zero hours, you will no longer see an error message. This situation can occur, for example, when you enter 45 minutes of leave time and don’t include lunch.

A number of other changes will be visible under the Personal Information section:

  • Your current workplace status will display as either Remote, Onsite or Hybrid. Only the employee and the supervisor can see this information, and only the supervisor can change it. This information, which has been assembled manually since March 2019, helps ensure the University has accurate and current information for matters such as COVID-19 testing and vaccination, and the suspension of parking fees.

  • Your immediate supervisor will be able to see a Personal Email if you have entered one.

  • Your previous Home Address will stop displaying if you select Change, select a new Effective Date and enter your new address. Only you and your supervisor can see this information. Please note that a fix to problems with the City field in this form is pending but not yet available for this update.
