WVU researcher to give keynote talk at World Biomaterials Congress, chair Liaison Committee

Professor Bingyun Li will give an invited keynote talk on “Biomaterial Associated Infections: Challenges and Strategies” at the Antibiotic Resistance symposium at the 11th World Biomaterials Congress.

WBC is held once every four years and is the foremost meeting worldwide in biomaterials and this year’s theme is “Pioneering biomaterials for global wellbeing.” Li’s group will also give an oral presentation on “Multifunctional Nanocoatings Reduce Implant Infections” during this virtual event.

Li, who gave his first keynote lecture at the 2019 European Cells and Materials Annual Conference in 2019 at Davos, Switzerland, has also been invited to serve as the chair of the Society For Biomaterials Liaison Committee for a four-year term. As the committee chair, he will also be a member of SFB’s governing council which meets in person two or three times per year for strategic planning. The Liaison committee has five members and its duties shall consider, advise and make recommendations to the Council with respect to all aspects of the relationships between the corporation and other technical and professional societies. 

He joined WVU in 2005 and is a professor in Orthopedics and a faculty participant at the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute. His research focuses on infection, drug delivery, advanced materials, and nanotechnology.
