WVU Career Services Center will explore diversity in the workplace during an upcoming employer panel titled “Defining the Future of Diversity in the Workplace” on Oct. 14 from 4-5 p.m.
“The goal for this event is to showcase our employer partners who have embraced diversity initiatives at their companies,” said Brittany Furbee, employer relations specialist at Career Services. “It has become clear that students increasingly wish to work for organizations that value diversity and inclusions, so we felt that it was important to provide them with a platform to discuss this topic.”
Hosted during Diversity Week, students will hear from a panel of four company representatives who will discuss how diversity and inclusion are shaping the future of recruiting at their companies.
The panel includes Abubakarr Bangura, district senior director at Target; Ryan Stannard, regional recruiter at Peace Corps; Charrae Rogers, recruitment specialist at The Sherwin-Williams Company; and Charlotte Swiger, senior diversity outreach specialist for the Division of Talent and Culture.
"We are encouraged that so many campus partners have planned and committed to events for Diversity Week,” said Aisury Vasquez, diversity outreach coordinator for the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at WVU. “We welcome this event by the Career Services Center to engage employers and include them in the mission of promoting a diverse and inclusive culture."
