WVU Research Computing will host a free High-Performance Computing workshop Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 3-4. This two-day, virtual workshop blends lectures, exercises and video. It is open to faculty, staff and students.
A two-hour video question and problem-solving session from 2- 4 p.m. will follow each workshop. No previous knowledge of research computing or programming languages is required to participate.
Introduction to High-Performance Computing is an introduction to using WVU’s HPC systems effectively. Participants will learn how to use the UNIX command line, connect to a cluster and write simple shell script; submit and manage jobs on a cluster using a scheduler; transfer files; and use software through environment modules.
Participants must register for each workshop in advance. Workshop materials, including web pages, Jupyter notebooks and code, will be distributed beforehand. See an overview of the schedule below and direct questions to helpdesk@hpc.wvu.edu.
