As faculty, staff and instructors prepare coursework and new instructional delivery modes for the Fall 2020 semester, all are welcome to participate in a virtual workshop on integrating new technologies to support both on-campus and online learning. The virtual workshop will be held July 23 at 1 p.m.
Hosted by the WVU Teaching and Learning Commons, the workshop will feature a presentation and Q&A from Derek Bruff, director of the Vanderbilt University for Teaching and author of Intentional Tech: Principles to Guide the Use of Educational Technology in College Teaching, which was recently published by the WVU Press in November 2019.
Bruff will explore several teaching principles that can help educators make intentional and effective use of technology in the classroom.
In the changing landscape of higher education, a form of adaptive teaching is required. As the toolbox of technologies expands, faculty and other instructors aren't always sure how to integrate those tools into their teaching in meaningful ways. Determining what's possible and what's useful can be challenging. In this session, participants will explore several teaching principles for matching technology to pedagogy, principles that can help us make intentional and effective use of technology, however instructors teach.
