The Mountaineer Volunteer Program engages WVU students through service opportunities, training and support from the Center for Service and Learning.

The MVP program is “providing student volunteers with the opportunity to engage in creative activities to address the various critical aspects of student volunteer develop,” said Eric Murphy, Assistant Director of the Center for Service and Learning.

Students in this program will address obstacles, such as WVU student interest in volunteering and their commitment to local organizations. Members are also given the first look at volunteer needs in the Morgantown area and will be informed of upcoming service projects.

These student volunteers will also have a unique opportunity to be trained in service-based workshops, such as; defining service within the community, Identifying personal tools to increase their effectiveness while volunteering, professionalism and logistics of service. These workshops will allow student volunteers to be better informed of local needs and confident in their service skills.

The Center for Service and Learning Mountaineer Volunteer Program “empowers students by providing, adapting, and advancing diversified volunteer service experiences that enhance personal growth and civic-minded development,” Murphy said.

Students who want to participate in MVP can express their interest at the Center for Service and Learning in person, at the Morgan House at 660 North High Street, or by contacting Eric Murphy by email, Eric.Murphy@mail.wvu.edu.
