The Division of Talent and Culture continually seeks to increase the University’s workforce diversity by implementing creative outreach opportunities for local and regional job seekers.
During the month of October — National Disability Employment Awareness Month — WVU Talent Strategy partnered with the Morgantown office of the Division of Rehabilitation Services to provide clients who have expressed an interest in working at the University the opportunity to experience a typical work day.
Talent Strategy initiated the activity in 2017. This year, members of the Talent Strategy administrative team (Bev Carter, Kay Newlon, Valerie Bailey, Lisa Boyles and Donna Cummings) served as co-mentors to Olivia Gross, whom they described as “an absolute joy... kind, excited, and eager."
Talent Strategy’s outreach approach includes fostering an ongoing relationship with local offices of Vocational Rehabilitation, Northern West Virginia Center for Independent Living and PACE, among others, to assist job seekers who are interested in working at WVU.
