WVU research study recruiting ninth graders, parents

Parents with a ninth grader (either who just finished ninth grade or who will be entering ninth grade in August) are invited to participate in a research project this summer with WVU's Psychology Department. The project, WVU Teen Life Project, explores how teens define and pursue happiness, how their attitudes relate to behaviors and functioning, and how their parents’ attitudes and behaviors relate to their children’s.

Participating ninth graders and their parent(s)/caregivers are asked to do a three-part study: an in-person meeting to complete surveys and behavioral tasks, and  follow-up surveys six and 12 months later.

The meeting can take place at the University, a public library or your home. Each volunteer (parents and ninth grader) will receive $20 for completing each part, and a $20 bonus if they do all three parts ($80 each/total).

The study is funded through the National Institute of Health. The Principal Investigator is Amy Gentzler (amy.gentzler@mail.wvu.edu). If interested in participating, contact the Research Team by phone or text at 304.933.9887 or by email at Gentzler.lab@gmail.com
