The U.S. Geological Survey and the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey have teamed up with WVU to host the Appalachian Geoscience GeoCamp June 23 - 30.

Open to high school students, the camp will explore concepts and skills related to the earth sciences, including orienteering, topographic and geologic mapping, forest ecology and more.

The GeoCamp experience will go far beyond indoor lessons and lectures by putting learning into the field alongside experts, to create hands-on experiences that allow students to explore possible future interests and careers.

Until May 1, the cost of the camp is $400 for West Virginia residents and $550 for out-of-state residents. After May 1, rates increase to $500 and $675, respectively.
