The Division of Talent and Culture’s Benefits Administration team invites WVU benefits-eligible faculty and staff to attend a Social Security presentation April 9, at the Erickson Alumni Center.
The presentation will be facilitated by Elaine Cole, public affairs specialist at the U.S. Social Security Administration. Topics of discussion will include:
Applying for retirement benefits;
determining eligibility and computing benefits;
paying taxes on benefits received;
calculating spouse and survivor benefits;
clarifying the impact of marriage, divorce, remarriage or becoming a surviving spouse;
working while receiving benefits;
coordinating other sources of retirement income;
calculating whether you/your spouse claim your benefits first; and
establishing the parts of Medicare in which you need to enroll.
Two time slots will be offered for the presentation. The first session will take place from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. The second session will take place from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Representatives from TIAA , PEIA and several other organizations also will be available to answer questions.
