SteppingStones seeks volunteers for Miracle League Baseball

The iServe logo.

SteppingStones, an official partner of the Center for Service and Learning, is a Morgantown based non-profit organization that offers year-round recreation and social activities for children with disabilities. Miracle League Baseball removes barriers that can keep people with disabilities form enjoying baseball. Game play is on a rubberized surface that accommodates wheelchairs and other assistive devices while helping prevent falls and injuries. The season runs from the end of April through the end of July. Many volunteers are needed to help make the season run smoothly and to ensure everyone is having fun. Below are some of the  volunteer positions needed. Faculty, staff and students are welcome. More detailed information can be found on iServe.wvu.edu.

  • Buddies: No baseball knowledge needed. Help in the dugouts putting on helmets, talking to athletes during down times, on the field with verbal cues and whatever the coaches need to help make the game flow smoothly and ensure athletes are having fun.

  • Baseball co-announcer: Assist announcer in whatever way needed to make the games run smoothly.

  • Baseball analyst:  During the game, work with athletes on the field giving them tips to improve their baseball skills and knowledge.

  • Umpires: Baseball background knowledge required.

If you are interested in any of these positions sign up on iServe.wvu.edu or contact Kim at 304.983.7837 or e-mail abilitywv@hotmail.com.
