All students enrolled at a West Virginia college or high school (or home schooled and high school-aged) are invited to apply for the Pearl S. Buck Writing Competition. Awards of $1,000 each will be given to an undergraduate and graduate student winner, and a high school winner will receive $250 and a scholarship to the WVU English Department’s annual West Virginia Writers' Workshop for summer 2018 ($600 value).

The first Visiting Artist Lecture in West Virginia University’s School of Art and Design will be given by Dan Hernandez. Hernandez will present “Genesis” Thursday (Jan. 25) at 5 p.m. in Bloch Learning and Performance Hall, 200A Creative Arts Center.
The 14-month online program is a collaboration between the WVU College of Law and the Department of Accounting at the WVU College of Business and Economics. Classes start in August.
The Health Science Faculty Development Program will host the third annual faculty engagement event on Friday, April 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Erickson Alumni Center.
The conflict resolution and medication workshop will be held Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in 201 BMRC, and will discuss introductory strategies relating to responsiveness to conflict, how it affects the work environment and how colleagues might assist each other when facing conflict.
