WVU graduate in lab  

Between 2010 and 2015, the combined overdose deaths from cocaine and psychostimulants with abuse potential—a drug category that includes methamphetamine, Adderall and Ritalin—equaled the number of overdose deaths from heroin. Doctoral candidate Joshua Gross is investigating how a particular protein influences the brain’s response to such drugs. Gross is conducting his research in collaboration with his two mentors: David Siderovski, Chair of WVU’s Physiology, Pharmacology, and Neuroscience Department, and Vincent Setola, Director of WVU’s Laboratory of Neuroscience and Genetics of Substance Abuse.

Coach Huggins and Coach Calipari  

The sixth annual Bob Huggins Fish Fry is set to take place today (Jan. 26) at 5:30 p.m. at the Mylan Park Community Center in Morgantown. Proceeds from ticket sales and auction items will once again benefit both the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund and the Remember the Miners Scholarship Fund.

Keith Bailey and Tracey Beckley  

The Office of the Provost announced today (Jan. 25) that the Teaching and Learning Commons will be realigning with WVU Online under the leadership of Dean Keith Bailey. As part of this move, Bailey will also be named the assistant provost for teaching and learning. Tracey Beckley, current executive director of the TLC, will become the assistant dean for teaching and learning. This expanded role will encompass online program planning as well as continued growth of services offered by the TLC.
