Faculty in the School of Art and Design will discuss their own works of art during the Art Museum of WVU’s Lunchtime Looks Jan. 31.
The works are currently displayed in the museum’s upper gallery as part of the West Virginia Juried Exhibit 2017 hosted by the West Virginia Division of Culture and History. The exhibit celebrates West Virginia artists and includes 84 pieces.
The artworks to be discussed are:
“Galactic Dreamscape,” sculpture – Alison Helm, director of the School of Art and Design
“…A And Anything,” print – Joseph Lupo, associate professor of art
“Our Lady of West Virginia,” mixed media – Michael Loop, museum preparator
Lupo’s print received an Award of Excellence, a purchase award and will become part of the West Virginia State Museum contemporary art collection.
Students, faculty and staff, and the general public are invited to bring a brown bag lunch to the Art Museum’s Education Center at noon and meet with other art enthusiasts to enjoy their midday meal. At 12:20 p.m., the group will move to the gallery for a closer look at three of the artworks in the exhibition.
The session ends by 1 p.m., so that those who need to return to their offices will have time. Anyone who can’t come for the entire lunch hour is welcome to meet the group in the museum at 12:30 p.m. for the art presentation only.
The Art Museum is located near the corner of Patteson Drive and Morrill Way at the Evansdale Campus North Entrance. Parking is available in short-term lots ST-1 and ST-9, with pay stations, one located near Patteson Drive and the other near Evansdale Crossing.
