 Golden Bears gather for Hall of Fame 2018 inductions.  WVU Tech alumni, employees, students and friends gathered in Beckley for the University’s second-annual Golden Bear Alumni Weekend on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3.  

WVU Tech alumni, employees, students and friends recently gathered in Beckley for the University’s second-annual Golden Bear Alumni Weekend. From campus tours and award receptions to catching up with old classmates and professors, the event brought together hundreds of Golden Bears and their families to celebrate outstanding members of the WVU Tech community.

The University’s chief health leader will participate in a discussion of new ways to approach the nation’s drug crisis at the South by Southwest Conference in Austin today (March 13). Clay B. Marsh, M.D., WVU vice president and executive dean for health sciences, will be one of four panelists discussing “Hacking the Opioid Epidemic: How Behavioral Science Can Help Us Combat America’s Most Pressing Health Crisis,” from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Paul A. Offit, M.D., has built an international reputation defending science and medicine against attack. But he doesn’t think scientists never make mistakes. He’s planning to visit West Virginia University March 23 to talk about what we can learn from the laboratory mishaps of the past.

Jennifer Boyd, PA-C, clinical coordinator with the West Virginia Primary Care Association and family practice physician’s assistant at the New River Health Association, and William Lewis, M.D., family medicine physician with Harpers Ferry Family Medicine and associate professor at West Virginia University Eastern Division, have recently been named co-directors of the West Virginia Practice-Based Research Network.

Big 12 Championship runner-up West Virginia will be making its 29th NCAA Tournament appearance on Friday in San Diego, California, when the Mountaineers face Ohio Valley Conference champion Murray State in a first-round game.
