The Art Museum of WVU announces the next installment of its Lunchtime Looks series for the 2018-19 academic year.

The subject of this month’s presentation is the Museum’s newest exhibition, “My Hero! Contemporary Art and Superhero Action.” Museum preparator Michael Loop will talk about the process of installing the exhibition, including creating a life-size web for Patricia Waller’s “Spider-Man” in the Museum’s galleries and wiring temporary walls for fluorescent art installations.

Loop’s talk will begin at 12:20 p.m. in the Art Museum’s Upper Gallery. Afterwards, audience members will have a chance to ask questions, and the Museum galleries will be open for further exploration.

Prior to the talk, all are invited to bring a brown-bag lunch to the Museum Education Center Grand Hall at noon to converse with Loop, museum staff and fellow museum-goers as they enjoy their midday meal.

The session will end by 1 p.m., for those who need to get back to their offices. Anyone who can’t get away for lunch is welcome to meet the group in the museum at 12:20 p.m. for just the presentation.

Lunchtime Looks is an opportunity for WVU students, faculty and staff, and the general public to learn more about the art and exhibitions on display at the Museum and to meet other art enthusiasts in the area.

The Art Museum and Museum Education Center are located near the corner of Patteson Drive and Morrill Way at the Evansdale Campus North Entrance.

Parking is available in short-term lots ST-1 and ST-9, with pay stations, one located near Patteson Drive and the other near the new Evansdale Crossing building.

The My Hero! Exhibition runs from Nov. 1-Dec. 31. It was organized by Carrie Lederer, Curator of Exhibitions and Programs, Bedford Gallery at the Lesher center for the Arts, Walnut Creek, CA. The exhibition is generously supported by the Friends of the Art Museum of WVU and William and Linda Hagerty.
