Free blacksmithing demonstration at CAC Friday

Art created by blacksmithing

School of Art and Design alumnus Christopher Daniel will conduct blacksmithing demonstrations from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday (June 22) in the metal studio at the Creative Arts Center. Daniel will be joined in these demonstrations by Kristen Keiffer, Ben Hoffman and Broadus Thompson, all of whom are members of the Cincinnati Blacksmiths Guild. These demonstrations are free and open to the public.

Daniel is a sculptor, blacksmith and steel fabricator who owns and runs Blue Hell Studio LLC, a Blacksmithing and Steel Fabrication School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also runs Smithhaven Studios LLC, which rents out studio space to artists and craftsmen. Christopher is a founding member of the Cincinnati Blacksmiths Guild, and as the current president of the guild helps to foster local interest in blacksmithing through public hammer-ins and onsite demonstrations.

After receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts from WVU in 1994, he went on to receive his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP program in 1997. Blue Hell Studio was founded in 2002 as a steel fabrication shop and within two years Daniel began teaching metal fabrication classes in addition to creating commissioned work.
