Generation West Virginia, the statewide organization dedicated to attracting and retaining young talent in the Mountain State, is hosting an information session and press conference on Wednesday (March 7) at the Media Innovation Center at Evansdale Crossing to promote their Impact Fellowship program and upcoming application deadline.

In its second year, the Impact Fellowship program is offering 17 positions at 11 of West Virginia’s top companies, with a minimum salary of $31,000 plus benefits. The deadline to apply for Phase 1 of the application process is March 18, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.

Generation WV’s Impact Fellowship works to address challenges facing West Virginia’s talent pipeline by offering year-long, paid fellowship opportunities to connect young people with innovative jobs at host companies based in West Virginia. During the course of the fellowship year, fellows work four days a week for their host company and spend each Friday volunteering at local nonprofit organizations around the state. Through the Impact Fellowship’s unique work-week model, the program both connects young people with jobs they need to succeed and encourages a population of change makers and doers in West Virginia.

Speakers at the press conference include:

  • Natalie Roper, Executive Director of Generation WV
  • Woody Thrasher, West Virginia Secretary of Commerce
  • Kate Reed, Alumni Coordinator for Leadership West Virginia
  • Heather Foster, Executive Director of Volunteer West Virginia
  • Rocky Goodwin, WV Forward at West Virginia University
  • Corey Shelter, 2017 Impact Fellow at WesBanco
  • McKenzie Greer, 2017 Impact Fellow at EntreEd
