James Campbell and Felicia Carrara received scholarships to spend eight weeks abroad studying Arabic and Russian, respectively. Their selection marks the 14th consecutive year one or more WVU students have been awarded the competitive scholarship. The scholarship program seeks to expand the number of Americans studying languages that are essential for the United States’ engagement with the world.
On April 23, the U.S. Department of Labor announced updates to the Fair Labor Standards Act to increase the salary test for exempt employees (i.e., those not eligible for overtime). Effective July 1, the rule increases the salary threshold from $684 per week or $35,568 annually to $844 per week or $43,888 annually.

The program is open to everyone — including beginners, amateurs and performers of all ages and levels — who wishes to enhance their daily lives with arts, learn how to play an instrument, further hone their skills, explore new creative territories or perform with others who share the same passion.
