On April 23, the U.S. Department of Labor announced updates to the Fair Labor Standards Act to increase the salary test for exempt employees (i.e., those not eligible for overtime).

Effective July 1, the rule increases the salary threshold from $684 per week or $35,568 annually to $844 per week or $43,888 annually.

To remain compliant with the rule, the Talent and Culture Compensation team is working with University leaders to review next steps before the July 1 effective date.

More information will be forthcoming in June. In the meantime, a list of FAQ's is available online.
