Staff Council has recognized Deborah Blakney, program coordinator for the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, for her military service and work at WVU.
WVU Extension 4-H teams from Barbour, Jefferson and Clay counties placed in the National Land Judging and Homesite Evaluation Contest held in Oklahoma. Land judging and homesite evaluation programs educate youth about soil properties and are used when constructing buildings or homes and for agriculture practices.
Upon his passing in 2021, Charles Bentley Hodgkin left an estate gift to establish the Charles Bentley Hodgkin Education Trust, which provides scholarships for students in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Hodgkin earned bachelor’s degrees in chemical engineering and business management from WVU.
Class of 2024 graduate and U.S. Army ROTC Cadet Cherilyn Zeltman of Manorville, New York, was recently commissioned and will serve active duty as a Nurse Corps officer in an Army hospital at a base that is to be determined.
Joseph Kingsbury, a doctoral student in natural resources science, and Kyle Hartman, professor of wildlife and fisheries resources, detected traces of statins and beta blockers in fish collected in the West Fork and Tygart Valley rivers in Weston and Elkins, respectively.
