Zhi Gu “Patrick” Li, a third-year doctoral student in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, recently won the Best Student Poster Presentation award at the 2024 Geospace Environment Modeling annual meeting in Fort Collins, Colorado. Li’s achievement marks the second time since 2017 that a WVU student has won this award, positioning WVU as the institution with the second-highest number of winners in the inner magnetosphere category, just behind Boston University.
Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown announced the hiring of Liesa Seifert as an assistant coach Monday (July 22). Seifert, who spent time as a graduate assistant on the WVU staff from 2020-23, will assist with the team’s daily training sessions and game preparations.
The tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team for the 11th consecutive year, while seven Mountaineers were selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2023-24 season.
