Tributes are planned throughout the 2024-25 Athletics season, culminating in a special men’s basketball game dedicated to West’s memory and legacy at WVU. Starting immediately, all 18 varsity sports teams will honor West with a commemorative logo of his famous number 44 on their uniforms, warm-ups or helmets, depending on the sport.
The women’s soccer team kicked off the 2024 campaign with a 2-0 win over Delaware Thursday (Aug. 15). The Mountaineers next host Radford at 1 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 18) with Pups on the Pitch. The first 150 dogs in attendance will receive a special collapsible water bowl. All dogs will be allowed entry into the match with a signed waiver and proof of vaccination records.

Residence hall move-in, with students arriving during scheduled time slots, begins today (Aug. 15) and continues through Saturday (Aug. 17). Welcome Week activities also begin today and will run through Friday, Aug. 23.
