WVU Health Sciences will recognize 10 individuals and one team with Chancellor’s Awards and four individuals with Women in Science and Health Awards for their significant contributions to its mission at 4 p.m. tomorrow (Sept. 19) at the Health Sciences Center Pylons.

Brian Hendricks and Dovenia Ponnoth from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine will present "Cultivating Innovation — West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine’s Expanding Research Horizons in Rural Health and Community Engagement” at 11 a.m. Sept. 25 in the Health Sciences Center, Room 7608.
All undergraduate students, especially underrepresented and non-traditional students, and those who would not otherwise be engaged in STEM, will be offered new opportunities for research thanks to the “Magnetic Analysis and Measurement Project” created by professor Mikel Holcomb who was awarded $400,000 from the National Science Foundation to help advance undergraduate research at WVU.
The Good Works Team has selected WVU quarterback Garrett Greene as one of its 22 members for his exemplary community service in 2024, and as a semifinalist for the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy which is earned by players who combine community service with leadership achievement on and off the field.
The No. 5 men’s soccer team recorded its second straight draw Tuesday (Sept. 17) against UNC Greensboro, finishing 2-2 at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The rifle team will open the 2024-25 season as the No. 2 team in the Preseason Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association poll. The Mountaineers finished in second place at last year's NCAA National Championship while collecting the program's 16th Great America Rifle Conference Tournament title and 15th GARC regular season crown.
