Heather Stephens, director of the West Virginia University Regional Research Institute, has joined the editorial board of the Journal of Regional Science. One of the most highly-cited journals in urban and regional research, planning, geography and the environment, the Journal of Regional Science has been publishing original analytical research at the intersection of economics and quantitative geography since 1958.
Baseball head coach Steve Sabins has named Jedd Gyorko to the position of special assistant to the head coach. An eight-year Major League Baseball veteran, Gyorko returns to WVU where he had a decorated college career with the Mountaineers from 2008-10.
The women’s soccer team hosts Kansas State for its Big 12 Conference home opener today (Sept. 19). Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Kickoff is noon Saturday (Sept. 21) for the Mountaineers and the Jayhawks at Milan Puskar Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN2. It’s WVU Sports Hall of Fame Weekend and a reunion is planned for the 2005 men’s basketball Elite Eight team.
