With the support of a $1.9 million National Institutes of Health grant, West Virginia University researchers are working to potentially reduce the growing rate of antibiotic-resistant infections in open bone fractures by employing nanotechnology to bolster a centuries-old treatment.

Undergraduate researchers who plan to present their research or creative work at the Seventh Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Mountainlair should submit their abstract by Thursday (Nov. 14).
The WVU Office of Human Research Protections will simplify processes for Not Human Subjects Research and for projects that don’t require IRB review beginning Dec. 9. Any new and pending NHSR protocol submissions should be submitted by Nov. 22 to allow for sufficient time for processing ahead of the transition date.

This series will run through Jan. 8 to provide information on freeze dates for submissions in WVU+kc, as well as training opportunities and support.
