Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Labor announced changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act, increasing the salary threshold for exempt employees (those not eligible for overtime). A second change was expected to take effect on Jan. 1, 2025, which would have further increased the minimum salary threshold. On Friday (Nov. 15), a federal judge in the Eastern District Court of Texas struck down the additional changes to the FLSA rule. As such, the second round of changes will no longer be implemented.

For Fayetteville native Caleb Bailes, being a Mountaineer has been a lifelong identity. “Blue and gold just runs through your veins around here,” Bailes said of his love for the University. “It’s always been my dream to go to WVU, just like most of the people in the area.”
