Healthy Schools in Action  

WV Healthy Schools in Action, a partnership between the College of Applied Human Sciences and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is setting new standards for school wellness in the Mountain State. Through this five-year initiative, West Virginia was selected as one of 20 states to receive CDC funding, with initial efforts focused on transforming wellness practices in Mercer County.

Nursing Class of 1984  

Hosted by Mary Fanning, WVU Hospitals chief nursing officer, and Malene Davis, 1984 class president, 11 alums gathered alongside several of their faculty members during Homecoming Weekend to reminisce and enjoy a reunion brunch.

NICU Simulation  

The immersive training at the David and Jo Ann Shaw Center for Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety provided students with an overview of what role an occupational therapist would play in different scenarios within the NICU.

Zach Ellis, a biochemistry major from Renick, has gone from growing up in a town of 170 to traveling the country with the groundbreaking Huntington’s disease research he’s conducting at WVU. “I don’t want anything more than to help people,” Ellis said.

The WVU Office of Human Research Protections will delay previously announced process changes for Not Human Subjects Research (NHSR) and for projects that don’t require IRB review until Feb. 17. This decision is based on initial findings and feedback during user acceptance testing.

Mens Soccer  

The men’s soccer team begins NCAA Tournament action today (Nov. 21) with a match against North Florida. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Mountaineers won the Sun Belt Championship Sunday (Nov. 17).
