An experienced servant leader and higher education administrator with ties to the Mountain State has been named the next president of West Virginia University Potomac State College. Jerry Wallace, president of Danville Community College in Danville, Virginia, will begin his term as PSC president on Dec. 1.

Chris Williamson will visit the WVU Academy for Mine Training and Energy Technologies to acknowledge accomplishments in mine emergency preparedness today (Oct. 30). The visit coincides with the annual commemoration of Mine Rescue Day, established in 2013 to recognize the dedication and sacrifice of volunteers who put their lives at risk to save other miners.
The Native American Studies Program will hold its annual ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 6 at the WVU Peace Tree, and Guest of Honor Kody Grant will present “Trading Jackets: Historical Perspectives to Modern Connections” at 5 p.m. in the Mountainlair, Gluck Theatre.
Over 1,000 K-12 students vied for victory at the 35th annual Pumpkin Drop hosted by the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. This year’s competition — held Friday (Oct. 25) — included 242 teams from 58 schools across West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
The conference provided a platform for the College of Applied Human Sciences to showcase its leadership in health and education, underscoring its commitment to advancing these fields through research, service and education.
