To help ensure that institutions across West Virginia, including Primarily Undergraduate Institutions, are fully aware of new and existing NIH initiatives and programs, U.S. Congressman David B. McKinley, has invited National Institutes of Health officials to the WVU Health Sciences Center to participate in several workshops and discussion groups Sept. 19 - 20.

The 2018 Research Induction Ceremony will be held Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. in Okey Patteson Auditorium. This white coat ceremony marks an important step in the lives of the doctorate students from all schools at the WVU Health Sciences Center who have completed their core educational coursework, identified their mentors and are now entering their selected areas of graduate research.

The HSC Office of Research and Graduate Education will host the annual Postdoc Appreciation Celebration Sept. 18 at noon in the hallway behind the Pylons lobby.

Michael Kolodney, who chairs the Department of Dermatology, has developed a smartphone app to cultivate that intuition in medical students sooner. An initial study suggests that the app, called Skinder, may improve how accurately medical students diagnose melanomas. The study’s findings have been published in “JAMA Dermatology.”
