The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has announced the induction of Bingyun Li, professor, Department of Orthopedics, School of Medicine, to its College of Fellows.

The Office of the Provost and the WVU Research Office are hosting the University’s inaugural Research Week 2019 April 1-5 to honor the high volume and caliber of WVU research. Four faculty members from the School of Public Health are participating in celebratory events during the week.
The University’s inaugural Research Week will kick off Monday (April 1) with “Fulbright Day.” As part of the day’s celebration, the Office of the Provost has organized an informational panel session for faculty and staff members interested in pursuing global opportunities through the Fulbright Scholar Program. The panel will be held in the Mountainlair’s Monongahela Room from 2 – 4 p.m.
WVCTSI’s Clinical and Translational Research Seminar Series will host its final sessions focusing on effectively engaging the community in a research agenda. Dr. Sally Hodder, WVCTSI director and associate vice president for clinical and translational science, will present, “Strategies for Developing and Engaging a Successful Community Advisory Board” April 12 from noon to 1 p.m. in room 201 of the WVU Health Sciences Center Erma Byrd Biomedical Research Building.
West Virginia has just half of the neurologists it needs. Headache specialists are even scarcer. David Watson, director of the WVU Headache Center, is exploring the barriers to care that people with migraine face, especially in states that—like West Virginia—are predominantly rural. His long-term goal is to attract and train so many neurologists to practice in West Virginia that no person with migraine would ever need to leave the state to seek treatment.
Xingbo Liu, Statler Endowed Faculty Chair in Engineering, has been named a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society. Liu, who has done extensive research in solving various energy problems through electrochemical applications including fuel cells, sensors and batteries, was highly recommended by the Panel of Fellows and the ACerS Board of Directors unanimously approved his selection.
