Local artists and art instructors gathered in a small room in Carter Hall on April 23 to celebrate and judge artistic works. The pieces – all created by WVU Tech students – were submitted as part of a semester-long art competition that culminated in the day’s event.

Bill Bayless, chief executive officer of American Campus Communities Inc.; Judy K. Sheppard, chief executive officer of Professional Services of America, Inc.; and Leo A. Vecellio, Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Vecellio Group, Inc., comprise the 2019 Hall of Fame class. The Hall of Fame will honor the inductees at an evening ceremony and reception Aug. 27 at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, the event that will kick off the 2019 West Virginia Business Summit and Annual Meeting.
To be successful in today’s workforce, students need to be proficient at analyzing and applying data. Thanks to a partnership with Google, the University will now offer a series of introductory data science courses as part of its curriculum.
Eddie Thorne, a maintenance worker in Housing and Resident Life, was recently named the 2019 Outstanding Classified Staff Person of the Year at WVU Potomac State College.
The 2019 West Virginia Mountaineer Short Film Festival, hosted by the School of Art & Design, takes place Saturday and Sunday (April 26 – 27) at the Mountainlair on the downtown campus.
Forty-eight WVU students represented Brazil and Honduras at the 2019 National Model United Nations Conference in New York City. Both groups won outstanding delegation awards, the highest awarded, plus position paper and outstanding delegate awards.
