College of Business and Economics  

The John Chambers College of Business and Economics is launching a new graduate program to meet the booming healthcare industry’s current and future need for professionals with strong foundations in effective business practices through the lens of healthcare.

Students can now enhance their leadership capacity at work and in their daily life with West Virginia University’s new graduate certificate in leadership. The first of its kind in the state, the program offers working professionals innovative, research-driven courses with practical applications.

Golden Bear heart of service  

Students, faculty and staff have contributed 4236.25 hours of community service since the beginning of 2019. That’s an estimated economic impact of $89,384.87. A full 68% of that service was accomplished in the fall semester alone, where volunteers contributed 2,900 hours to projects in Beckley and the surrounding area.

pat moline  

The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences has hired a fundraiser with more than 25 years experience to lead its development efforts. Pat Moline began as the Eberly College’s assistant dean for development Dec. 30. She will lead the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

Robin Hissam  

Robin Hissam, teaching associate professor in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, has been appointed to director of undergraduate education in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, effective November 2019.

Derek Willis and Ken Ward  

Reed College of Media students spent the fall semester taking a deep dive into West Virginia issues with the help of two investigative reporting pros, Derek Willis and Ken Ward.
