The College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences and Statler College will host a virtual workshop to feature the expanding partnership with the Universidade Federal do Parana in Brazil and opportunities to expand and develop new collaborations in research, faculty development and graduate student exchanges.

In a time when most people are avoiding diseases like the plague, one WVU biology student is pursuing them instead. Jessica Towey researches in assistant professor Tim Driscoll’s laboratory, which studies vector-borne infectious diseases spread to humans by arthropods—insects such as ticks, fleas and mosquitoes. Diseases spread this way account for nearly one-sixth of all infectious diseases worldwide.

The WVU School of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a nearly three percent weekly increase in the number of people who wore masks during the third week of 'MASCUP!', an ongoing mask observation study. WVU is one of 60 colleges and universities across the country participating in the study.

The University community is invited to celebrate the faculty and students who pursue ground-breaking research in all disciplines during its third-annual Research Week, sponsored by the Research Office and Office of the Provost, beginning April 12.

The West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute will host a special virtual event titled “HIV in Rural America” March 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. During this event, researchers and state and national health experts will discuss research presented in The Lancet’s recent issue: HIV in the United States.

The WVU community is invited to attend the virtual 5th Annual Undergraduate Spring Symposium, on the WVU undergraduate research symposium website, April 17 at 11 a.m. The general public are encouraged to view and comment on student presentations throughout the following week.
