As part of our continuing efforts to simplify and standardize how we operate and help you work smarter, the Procurement, Contracting and Payment Services and Environmental Health and Safety teams have partnered to develop a new chemical procurement and inventory system for WVU. The new system — which is called Research Material Management — will be cloud-based and reside in the Mountaineer Marketplace.

Not all West Virginians have the luxury of popping into a health clinic on a whim to get tested for COVID-19. For the past seven months, the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute has helped ramp up COVID-19 testing throughout the state via mobile vans and by focusing on communities of color.

A WVU professor who will focus on the increased visitor use in protected areas and greenspaces in Austria during the COVID-19 pandemic—including the negative effects — has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship for the fall 2021 semester. Robert Burns, professor at the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, will study at BOKU, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, Austria.

Asmer Mahmood  

Aamer Mahmood has joined the Mountaineer family as the new director of the Shared Research Facilities at WVU. Mahmood, an electrical engineer who most recently worked at Microsoft Station Q Purdue, succeeds interim director Trina Wafle, who has resumed her full-time responsibilities at the WVU Energy Institute.
