As an extension of the WV Heroes program, which has provided more than 9,000 tickets to military and first responders, the Healthcare Heroes program launched this week to help out those West Virginia healthcare workers who are on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19.

The WVU Humanities Center announces the recipients of its third annual grants and fellowships competition funded by a WVU endowment from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. The purpose of this competition is to fund humanities-related projects that speak to the Center’s commitment to interdisciplinarity and public humanities.
Frances O’Brien, former Dean of West Virginia University Libraries, died Friday, May 8, at Johns Hopkins Hospital. O’Brien served as dean of Libraries from June 1999 until her retirement in December 2011. During her tenure, she oversaw the construction of the Downtown Campus Library and the Library’s state-of-the-art Book Depository as well as renovations to the Wise Library and Evansdale Library. In addition, she worked to implement multiple technological enhancements.
STAR and all STAR-related systems will be unavailable from 9 p.m. Saturday (May 16) until noon Sunday (May 17) to accommodate urgent financial aid updates to the system. This work will take an estimated 14 hours, so Information Technology Services must begin the normal Sunday maintenance period three hours earlier than typically scheduled.
