Each summer, hundreds of volunteers provide life-changing experiences for West Virginia youths. Through the WVU Extension Service Energy Express summer reading program, AmeriCorps members, Energy Express mentors and others help to enhance reading and comprehension skills for students throughout the state.

Supporters of the WVU Mountaineer Marching Band will be able to double their impact during WVU’s Day of Giving on March 3, thanks to the Maier Foundation. They have pledged $250,000 to match donations made to support the Pride Practice Facility.
Under most circumstances, the placement of one brick in a multi-million dollar structure would not be big news. But when the brick is part of the new WVU Medicine Children's hospital, it becomes a lead story. The brick, laid Jan. 21 by Children's Chief Operating Officer Amy Bush, represents another big step in the completion of a facility that will change lives throughout the region.

The WVU rifle team defeated Ole Miss in their last home match of the season, by a score of 4737-4713 on Sunday. Junior Jared Eddy matched the WVU school record in smallbore after he shot a 595 and tied the smallbore standing record with a 199. He placed first overall, earning a personal-best aggregate score of 1190.
West Virginia University will move in-person instruction on the Morgantown campus online until noon Monday (Feb. 1) due to inclement weather and road conditions. Classes already offered online and those in hybrid form will also continue as planned. Students on clinical rotations should check in with their program directors for additional guidance. The remainder of the University, including dining and COVID-19 testing, will operate on a normal schedule.
