As of late December 2020, 254 WVU students had been awarded $280,863 in scholarships for the 2020-’21 school year via “We Are Stronger Together,” a special fundraising initiative launched by the WVU Foundation. Contributions to the ongoing effort assist WVU students affected by the pandemic with tuition, room and board, and other educational expenses.
WVU alumnus George R. Farmer Jr. was a successful attorney who devoted his career to carrying on the giving tradition of one of West Virginia’s most celebrated benefactors. In doing so, he helped transform his alma mater and the Morgantown community through impactful philanthropic giving that will be remembered long beyond his passing Monday, at the age of 92.
The Women’s Leadership Initiative membership drive for Spring 2021 begins today (Jan. 13). Self-nominate or nominate WVU women who you believe would benefit from the opportunities, resources and networking the initiative provides.
To be eligible for submission, the work must have been published, released or produced between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2020. The deadline to complete the online submission form is Feb. 9.
