It turns out the most challenging year of Shane Lyons' professional career was also his most rewarding. Lyons was recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics as one of its four Athletics Directors of the Year for the Football Bowl Subdivision.
West Virginia University Police issued an Alert at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, after a man was reported with a knife near, but not on, the Morgantown campus. The suspect, described as a shirtless Black man wearing khaki pants, was last seen on Fife Street. Morgantown Police joined UPD in responding to the report as the public was asked to avoid the area. Officers canvassed the neighborhood but by 9:30 p.m. had not located a suspect and issued an Alert that it was safe to return to the area.

West Virginia University was made aware on Tuesday, March 9, that a national hate group had distributed recruitment flyers on the Morgantown campus. An investigation has been completed, which included the University Police Department communicating with the FBI to gather additional potential information about the group. These recruitment events are orchestrated by a national hate group organization and frequently target university campuses.
