WVU will celebrate Diversity Week Oct. 10-16, focusing on the theme “Cultural Conversations: Celebrating the Social Significance of Ethnicity.” A number of Health Sciences-specific events are planned as part of this year's lineup.

This week's Walk with a Future Doc session will feature a discussion on the relationship between diseases and mental health presented by a WVU postdoctoral fellow on Saturday (Oct. 9) at 9 a.m.
Assistant professor and associate clerkship director for third and fourth-year medical students, Dr. Andrea Labus, will present during the Department of Medicine Grand Rounds Friday (Oct. 8) at 8 a.m.
School of Public Health students volunteered at Save a Life Day that was held Sept. 25 at 12 locations in Monongalia County. During this event, the Monongalia County Quick Response Team members and volunteers gave away free naloxone, which reverses the effects of an opioid overdose, and administered Narcan training.
All faculty are invited to attend the WVU Health Sciences Center Faculty Development Program presentation “WVU Mental Health 101, Parts 1 and 2” on Oct. 18 and 19, from noon to 1 p.m.
A web-based learning event, which stems from a collaboration between the West Virginia University Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, is helping medical and dental students better understand health disparities in diverse patient populations.
