From the time he was six years old, mechanical and aerospace engineering graduate Matt Underwood’s family knew he was going to be an engineer. Having worked for seven years as a NASA aerospace research engineer, focused on air traffic management and flight-deck technologies, he has recently transitioned into an assembly, integration and test engineer.

WVU Medicine has begun relaxing the visitation restrictions that were put into place at its hospitals and clinics as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The policy, effective today (July 19), is in place to ensure the health and safety of patients, visitors, vendors, students, volunteers and healthcare providers by employing strategies to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on WVU Medicine properties

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby indicated Wednesday that COVID protocols have yet to be established for the 2021-22 season. He noted the conference does not have the authority to mandate its athletic teams be vaccinated; however, he said the conference is going to do everything it can to encourage those student-athletes not vaccinated to get their shots before competitions begin this fall.

To help give new life to campus trees — both historic and non-historic — that have been removed for safety reasons, the Office of Sustainability, the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design and the WVU Tree Campus USA committee are partnering to host West Virginia University’s inaugural lumber sale July 30 from 2-6 p.m. and July 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the event tent outside the Creative Arts Center, 1 Fine Arts Dr., Morgantown.
