Neil Bolyard  

Neil Bolyard, a long-time innovative, student-centered leader who served West Virginia University for more than three decades, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 89. A Fellowsville native, Bolyard began his tenure at the University as the coordinator of scholarships and veteran affairs, and in 1969, he was named the director of financial aid, a position he served in until his retirement in 1997.

The Honors EXCEL program is inviting junior students from all majors, who are interested in developing and implementing a project of their own, over several semesters, on a topic they are passionate about, to apply for January 2022 admission into the program.

The Department of English will host a reading by Alison Bass, author of Brassy Broad, on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m., in 130 Colson Hall and via Zoom.

The Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Graduate Seminar on “Scalable and Reliable AI” is on Monday, Oct. 25, at 5 p.m. on Zoom.

Administrative Grand Rounds  

The Master of Health Administration program is partnering with the West Virginia Hospital Association to host a virtual Administrative Grand Rounds, “Action Collaborative for Resilience and Well-being,” on Oct. 22, from noon to 1 p.m. via livestream on MDTV. This session, free and open to the public, will include a panel focused on the tools and techniques healthcare managers should employ to build employee resilience to prevent burnout and lasting mental health issues.
