A Homecoming celebration of school pride, tradition and the state’s coal industry culminated at West Virginia University Saturday (Oct. 25) with the crowning of Laya Chennuru and Christopher Morrison as the 2025 Homecoming Royalty.

The annual Homecoming Parade, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. tonight (Oct. 24) on High Street, will feature Dr. Clay Marsh, chancellor and executive dean for WVU Health Sciences, as the grand marshal, along with the other recipients of the 2025 Homecoming and Alumni Service Awards. Following the parade, the men’s and women’s basketball teams will kick off the 2025-26 season with “Ballin’ at Woodburn” in Woodburn Circle.
“Hope, Hopelessness and the Meaning of Life,” led by David Cerbone, chair of the Department of Philosophy, and Sharon Ryan, director of the Humanities Center, is slated for 4 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 28) in the Downtown Library Complex, Robinson Reading Room.
