Vaccine  

In response to positive turnout at the recent Mountainlair clinic, West Virginia University will host additional pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinics on the Downtown campus in partnership with the Monongalia County Health Department. The pop-up clinics will take place in the Mountainlair’s Mountaineer Room on Wednesday, March 9 and Wednesday, March 16 from 1-3 p.m. The clinics will offer both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Faculty and staff should encourage graduating seniors to stop by the 2022 Graduation One-Stop Shop today (March 7) in the Mountainlair commons area, and Tuesday, March 8, in the Engineering Mineral Resources atrium. The shops will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to celebrate the book launch of WVU History Department’s William Hal Gorby today (March 7) at 7 p.m. in person in the Robinson Room of the Morgantown Downtown Library or virtually via Zoom. This is a “must attend” event for those interested in Appalachian history.

The West Virginia Public Education Collaborative’s second round of Sparking Early Literacy Growth grant applications is open and applicants are strongly encouraged to participate in an informational session to review grant guidelines and criteria, as well as serve as a sounding board for ideas and answer questions, Tuesday (March 8) at 10 a.m.

Mary Roush 2022-23 Mountaineer Mascot  

Inspired by the passion and resilience of West Virginia University’s first female Mountaineer Mascot, Natalie Tennant, freshman Mary G. Roush, from Mason, will become the third female in nine decades to don the buckskins and carry the rifle as the 68th Mountaineer Mascot. Roush was named the 2022-23 Mountaineer Mascot Saturday’s men’s basketball game in the WVU Coliseum, becoming the first freshman to serve in the role and fulfilling her lifelong dream.
