The West Virginia Collegiate Initiative to Advance Healthy Campus Communities and WVU will sponsor a free two-day, online Mental Health First Aid training from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1 and 2. This two-part session is open to faculty, staff and students from WVCIA member institutions and partner organizations.

Evansdale Campus  

Due to construction on steam lines in the area, the bus loop at the Towers residence halls on the Evansdale area of campus is closed through July 1, effective immediately. Parking lot Area 53 will also be closed.

Participating libraries gain access to new MIT Press titles—around 90 titles per year—as well as its eligible backlist of approximately 2,300 books. D2O features two non-overlapping collections of scholarly monographs and edited volumes: Humanities & Social Sciences and STEAM.

A new designation by the United States National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security has established the cybersecurity bachelor’s degree program at WVU as one of the top-tier programs in the nation. Recently, the cybersecurity program in the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering in the Statler College has been redesignated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense through academic year 2027.

Katie Hill  

A horseback riding accident during high school set Dr. Katie Hill on a path to becoming a doctor. After enrolling at WVU, the Wyoming County native found a passion for working with different cultures and underserved populations, and the School of Medicine’s Global Health Track provided her with an added focus on healthcare disparities and comparative approaches to health throughout the world.

Munn Scholars 2022  

WVU Libraries’ Teaching and Learning Committee has selected Samantha N. Franzese, Jude Platz and Elizabeth Rockwell as 2022 Robert F. Munn Undergraduate Library Scholars. The award goes to one or more Honors students for an outstanding humanities or social sciences thesis based on research conducted in the WVU Libraries.
