Madison Fleck Cook will begin her role as director of student media in the Division of Student Life today (May 31). In this role, Cook will have staff oversight of The Daily Athenaeum, U-92 “The Moose” and Prospect and Price Creative, all independent, student-run organizations.
Yamile Gonzalez, from Guadalajara, Mexico, made history as she became the first graduate student to successfully complete a sport management master’s thesis at WVU. Gonzalez’s master thesis “Gender Imbalance in Sport Leadership in Latin America” examines gender disparity at the leadership level within sport organizations across Latin America.
Foundations of Faith Community Nursing, a course offered through the WVU School of Nursing, teaches students how to improve health in faith communities, as well as how to provide quality care to members of different faith backgrounds in the clinical care setting.
Bernard Schreurs, a researcher with the WVU School of Medicine and Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, is studying the mechanisms behind Alzheimer’s disease and PTSD. What he and his colleagues discover—on the behavioral, anatomical and molecular levels—may suggest new ways to prevent or treat these memory-related diseases.
